This recipe for single-serving apple crumble is on my list of ’emergency recipes’. It only takes 5 minutes to prepare, but you’ll need to be patient while it’s in the oven. Don’t worry, the wait will be worth it. It has the perfect ratio of apples to crumbs, which means – lots of crumbs. Just don’t forget to serve it with no-churn vanilla ice cream!

If you’re looking for some other emergency recipes, try mychocolate fondant, one-bowl brownies, or peanut butter fudge.

Hi there, just want to say I’ve made this recipe twice now (once as written and the other time doubled) and it’s SO GOOD! Apple crumble is a traditional recipe here in the U.K. and you totally nailed it 😉
Just to still add for anyone who makes this recipe without the optional add-ins, you’ll have to add a bit extra flour, but no worries just a spoonful or two and it’ll look just right!

I couldn’t agree more, Kirsti. It is perfect and delicious. I made it today, for lunch here with my friend. Too hot here to use the oven, so tomorrow I can just warm it up. I have no oats and don’t really care for them in most of my baking. This is Yummy!

What an easy and tasty recipe. I made it healthier by leaving the skin on, using whole wheat flour, and substituting golden erythritol for sugar. You can’t even tell. I’m excited to have a third healthy dessert recipe where there’s hardly any chemical aftertaste (the others are pumpkin pie and cheesecake. )

It changes the consistency of the crumble… real butter will honestly work best… I wouldn’t ,but give it a go and update us!

Thank you so much for this simple, yet delicious recipe! I made 2 serves tonight for me and my partner, and it so good. I added the oats and some chopped walnuts. I doubled the cinnamon too. The topping was so crunchy! I used some left over Royal Gala apples that we had, but I think next time I will use Granny Smith. Either way, it was a fantastic dessert for a cold evening 🙂

Very nice but next time I will use less sugar(15-20g) and less butter (15-20g) as 30g was too much resulting in me needing to add more flour to the recipe.

Best apple crumble recipe, so glad I found it! I also appreciate having the variety of measurements in the recipe. My husband absolutely loved it too. Only adjustments I’d make are to double the amount of apples (there seemed plenty of topping) and the apples started to disappear when cooked, and I used Demerara sugar instead of white sugar for the flavour.

This is so freakin’ good… I did two apples, added cinnamon and a pinch of flaky sea salt to the topping, and used a litttttle bit (1 Tbsp) more butter. I ended up having to bake it for 45 minutes, but that may be because I used one (larger) soup-crock-sized baking vessel instead of ramekins. Thank you for sharing this simple and DELICIOUS recipe!

I’m hoping to make this in advance, as in prep all the way up to before it goes in the oven.. can it sit in the fridge like this for a few hours before baking? or should it be baked straight away and reheated later when needed?

If we are having this as a dessert to a meal i would like it to be baked as fresh as possible without having to make it all right after dinner!

    Hope this makes sense!
    Thank you!

The only things I changed is for the sugar in the topping I did half white sugar half brown and I also added a bit of cinnamon! It makes the homiest most scrumptious desert ever!
