He loved researching genealogy and learning of his relatives who had gone on before. He always had a smile on his face

And, a joke ready for us to laugh at and embrace.

We have to remember that Death may take our body, but God will take our soul.

And, there will surely be left in our hearts a small hole.

Remembering you will be easy for we do it every day.

It’s missing you that is a heartache that never goes away.

His parting words to his love ones...

“Enjoy life it goes by so fast.

There are so many good people to meet with friendships that last. Keep track of your time, don’t waste it away Time swirls around and we get caught up in things and it is soon gone...I’m sorry I can’t stay.”

Our minds will hold and treasure the memories and Our hearts will forever carry his legacy and love.

May God be with us all Until me meet at Jesus feet at our journeys end in Heaven above. With Our Deepest Love and Sympathy, Written by Audrey Waldron Evans (Daughter-in-Law) And, The Evans Eleven

Raymond Fredrick Jacobs - April 25, 1952 - June 10, 2020

Departed: 06/10/2020 (Syracuse)

Obituary Preview: Rick was born in Kearns, Utah to Raymond Boyce and Virginia Salisbury Jacobs, as the third of eight children. As a youth, he learned how to play the guitar and trumpet. Despite challenges that he could have easily used as an excuse to not achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, he persevered and did so at the age of fourteen. He filled his young single days with skiing, hunting, fishing, scuba-diving, boating, backpacking, shooting, running (including several marathons), dancing, and scouting to name a few. He was so proficient in several of these areas, he was able to uphold his Eagle Scout oath of giving back to others by becoming an instructor. This is especially true of scouting, as he helped many boys earn their Eagle Scout awards. In his early twenties, his first beloved son, Joshua, was born. Rick met the love of his life, Mary Ray Ipson, on September 13, 1985 at the Utah State Fair on a blind date. They both had a love for adventure. She knew he was the one when she saw his boat, land cruiser, and motorcycles. He knew she was the one after a memorable date at Farmington Canyon where he discovered how good a shot she is. They were married on July 4, 1986 and sealed the deal for eternity in the Manti Temple on October 18, 1989. Together, they have four beautiful children. He constantly bragged about them and his grandchildren and was always fascinated in their activities. He spent his eleven years of retirement developing his passions for photography, emergency preparedness, guns, and bicycling. It was while riding his bike on a beautiful, summer day on Antelope Island that his heart gave out and he returned to his loving family in heaven. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister. He is survived by his most beautiful and astounding wife Mary, five children – Joshua Thornton, Jacquelyn “Jacque” (Justin) Beaman, Luisa (Ryan) Anderson, Raymond “Ricky” (Courtney) Jacobs, and Veronica “Roni” Jacobs, and eleven grandchildren – Rachel, Kaydee, Lauren, Rebecca, Makayla, Jared, Karl, Emmaline, Elliot, Annabelle, and Jeremiah (on his way). Robert Allen Andre - October 22, 1973 - May 24, 2020

Departed: 05/24/2020 (Syracuse)

Obituary Preview: On Sunday, May 24, 2020, we lost a truly amazing husband, father, son, brother, friend. Rob was doing what he most loved in life, spending time with his beloved family and friends. While biking in southern Utah, Rob’s mortal life ended suddenly. He was only 46 years old.

Robert Allen Andre was born October 22, 1973 in Ogden, Utah to faithful parents Todd and Karen Andre, who taught by example unconditional love and kindness. The growing family lived in Layton for a few short years before moving to Syracuse, where he spent his childhood. He was raised with five brothers and sisters. They were always the best of friends and remained so throughout his life. Because of his infectious smile and genuine acceptance of and appreciation for everyone he knew, that circle of friends expanded to become adopted members of his extended family. He had a special way of making everyone feel important and loved. That sentiment was experienced by all who knew and loved him in return. His many friends and clients could always count on personal notes and tokens of appreciation at special times in their lives. Few knew of the tender moments when he would write special notes, songs, and poetry – particularly for and about Amy and Bryn.

Rob was meticulous in ensuring that his surroundings were always CLEAN and ordered; and he strived for continual improvement in his personal and professional life. In his early adult years, he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kobe, Japan – instilling within him a newfound expertise in the art of fine sushi. Upon returning, he excelled as a quintessential entrepreneur, owning and operating Munkybone Clothing Company, Preferred Vinyl Fencing, and currently his own real estate team, Rob Andre Real Estate Group. Rob lived intensely, setting and achieving his many life goals. He gave his all in everything he set his mind to, earning numerous titles in amateur and professional body building. Nutrition, fitness, and reading were passions that inspired so many for whom he served as mentor, coach, and personal champion. His countless workout buddies will so miss his energy and “you can do it” enthusiasm.

His crowning achievement and joy was realized when he married his sweetheart and love of his life, Amy Davis Andre, on September 16, 2000. They adored each other and spent every possible moment together. They shared a close group of friends and family with whom they experienced so many adventures. They found true happiness as friends and partners, unlike any other. Yet, that joy paled in comparison to their new life that began the minute little Brynlee entered their world. Bryn had her daddy wrapped around her little finger from the first moment. She was his princess and he was her hero. Their little family, and true measure of joy, was finally complete. Above all else, Rob’s family was the most important thing in his life. He was happiest just spending time with Amy and Bryn. Yet he invited so many into their lives to share in those experiences. He was so proud of their beautiful new home in West Haven, spending countless hours on improvement projects, working together in their yard, and perfecting their backyard pine tree oasis. He counted the days when he could, once again, enjoy summer days with his family and friends boating at Pineview or Flaming Gorge. “Permission to come aboard, captain!”

Rob is survived by his wife of 20 years, Amy, his daughter, Brynlee (6), parents Todd & Karen [Stock] Andre of Syracuse, Utah, siblings Kamie [Thayne] Roberts, David [Jamie] Andre, Karie Andre, and Kurtis [Jodi] Andre. He also leaves behind 17 nieces and nephews.

Rob was reunited in heaven with his most trusted pal and hunting dog, Grey-Boy, Katie (Katie Bug), his sweet little sister, Stryker and Scout, his nephew & niece, grandparents, and other cherished family members.

Outdoor funeral services will be open to the public and held at 10:00 am on Monday, June 1, Syracuse Arts Academy (North Campus) outdoor amphitheater, 357 S 1550 W, Syracuse. His family will host visitors on Sunday, May 31, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Russon Mortuary, 1585 W 300 S, Syracuse.

Rob’s family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from his many friends and trusted associates. Cherish your moments together.

Departed: 05/12/2020 (Syracuse)

Obituary Preview: Linda Lois Shumway, 69, of Clearfield Utah, returned to Heavenly Father on May 12, 2020 after complications from surgery. She was born February 18, 1951 in Provo, Utah. She was the oldest of three children born to Elvin Giles and Lois Jane Shumway.

After high school Linda bravely went off on her own to work at the Grand Canyon where she met her future husband. Linda married Ward L Bettridge on April 25, 1970 in the Manti Temple. They had two children together: Geoffrey Craig and Justin Tyler. Linda was later divorced from Ward, but they remained on friendly terms throughout her life.

Linda worked many jobs to provide for her little family while also attending Brigham Young University. After many years of hard work and sacrifice she graduated April 21, 1994 with a major in Public Relations and minor in Secondary Education. She went on to teach at Northridge High, Clearfield Job Corps, and Morgan High.

Her greatest joy was always found with her children. That joy was multiplied when she became Grandma Beep Beep. She would do anything for her family and loved to love them. She would show her love by sewing costumes, baking birthday cakes, going for a ride in her "Beep Beep", camping trips, babysitting for date nights, or playing at the park. She would drop everything for them.

One of Linda's hobbies was sewing. She made everything from summer outfits, Halloween costumes, PJ's and rag quilts. She even reupholstered her VW! She also loved doing yard work, and she knew exactly how she wanted it. Many hours were spent in her yard making it perfect. She loved to travel and knew how to get dirty with the best of 'em on camping trips.

Linda is survived by two sons, Geoffrey of Rogers, Arkansas, and Justin (Monica) of Syracuse, Utah. And four grandchildren Tyler, Blake, Kaden and Sydney Bettridge. Also surviving is one brother Dann Shumway, two nephews Corbin and Cole Shumway, and one niece Lisa Shumway. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elvin and Lois Shumway and brother Charles Shumway.

Linda continued to bless lives of others after her death through organ donation. Her body also briefly helped University of Utah medical students to advance in their studies.

After much prayer and consideration, her family decided on cremation, and that no funeral services would be held. A Virtual Memorial will be available to visit on May 22, 2020 at lindashumwaymemorial.blogspot.com

She was born in Provo, Utah to Alfred and Donna Tolbert on June 26, 1977. Stephen J Cobb - March 21, 1954 - April 19, 2020

Departed: 04/19/2020 (Syracuse)

Obituary Preview: Stephen James Cobb completed his mortal journey and honorably returned to his Heavenly Father on April 19, 2020 after succumbing to complications following a heart attack.

Born on March 21, 1954, in Washington D.C. to James Paul Cobb and Shirley Mercer. As an “Air Force Brat,” he lived in the Azores, Iowa, Germany, California, Venezuela, and Arizona. He was an adventurous and inventive child. In high school he had to be the best dressed guy on campus, and always looked sharp, and that carried through his entire life. Steve became bored with high school and very eager to start his life, so he graduated from high school at 17 and joined the United States Air Force.

It was while serving in the Air Force that he discovered the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was instantly drawn to the truthfulness and was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The Atonement of our Savior began a change in him that enabled him to become more than he could have on his own.

He met the love of his life, Mary Ann Brimley, at an LDS Institute Dance held at Weber State University. They were introduced by close friends. He was handsome and smart, and Mary was head over heels. It was love at first sight. They dated only a short time and were married on April 14, 1978. One year later, they sealed their union for time and all eternity in the Ogden, Utah Temple.

He made the most beautiful, loving family from the ashes of a much less than perfect childhood. Stephen and Mary built the most amazing life, family, and love story. He healed broken hearts and gave overflowing love to those who were downtrodden. He changed the course of his posterity and would not have been able to do it without his beloved, Mary.

His life legacy will be taught to his 16 beautiful grandchildren who already greatly miss their snuggles, tickles, and jokes by Grandpa Cobb. Grandpa Cobb had the biggest heart for his family and it grew even bigger when his grandchildren were around. You would never find him without at least one sitting on his lap, being entertained by his “magic tricks”.

Survived by his wife, Mary; children, Adam Otterbein, Heath (Kertsi), Stephanie (Jeff) Jasper, Seth (Lara), Jamie (Danny) Davis; and sisters Gail Foutz and Cathey Stevens. He will be missed and loved every day until we see him again. Interment: Syracuse City Cemetery

Obituary Preview: Danae Russon Stevens 1969 to 2020

Danae Russon Stevens, 51, passed away suddenly on March 24, 2020. Danae was born on January 10, 1969 in Bountiful, Utah to her parents Milton W. Russon, Jr. and Rebecca Anne Orgill Russon. She was the second child of 5 children in her family. Danae was raised in Bountiful and was often found playing with her friends in the neighborhood and trying to make new friends whenever she could. She loved to be outside and was often off on bike rides or climbing trees with her friends. When forced to be inside she practiced Suzuki scales on her violin driving her family nuts!

In her younger years, she loved to travel the western United States with her family in the station wagon and the “tray”. Hundreds of hours were spent playing the “zip” game and singing songs from the 8-tracks of Pete’s Dragon, the Carpenters, Neil Diamond, and My turn on Earth. During these road trips, Danae was often frustrating her parents by wandering away from camp. She would undoubtedly be found at the KOA playground with a new friend she had just made. She was known to go toe-to-toe with doctors as she advocated for her patients for the best care possible. In general, she dedicated her life to taking care of others physically and emotionally to the best of her ability. She was a caregiver, first and foremost, and was a champion of the underdog. She truly exemplified the Savior’s charge to minister to others.

Danae married Ronald J. Stevens on November 12, 1998, later solemnized in the Bountiful Temple. At the time of their marriage, RJ had a son, Taylor J Stevens. Danae accepted Taylor as her own and helped raise him from that time. As with everyone in her life, once he came into her life, he was hers.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints throughout her life. She loved to serve in her callings and was faithful as she took on those responsibilities. She liked to think about the deep questions of the gospel and was known to have thought-provoking discussions about her thoughts and feelings. Ultimately, she loved the Lord and was going about doing His business.

Rod arrived on Nov. 13, 1954, as the fourth of 11 children to Maxine Zaugg and Clifford Jay Park. Rod learned hands-on the construction trade from his father, beginning at the age of four, receiving the kingly salary of a hamburger and shake.

His family moved several times as Rod grew up, finally landing in Clearfield. Rod loved to play baseball, basketball and football. He was fond of singing and was a member of the Madrigals at Clearfield High School and continued to bless his family with his musical talents throughout his life and could often be heard singing the Beatles or Chicago, even while riding his motorcycle.

He married Camille Tams in May of 1973. They had two beautiful children. They later divorced.

Rod met the love of his life, Loretta Sherrie Dunn, while remodeling the Utah School for the Deaf & Blind where she worked. Loretta asked him for an interview for her Journalism 101 class. That interview continued for 41 years. They exchanged wedding vows on March 15, 1979, and then were sealed for time and all eternity a year later in the Ogden LDS Temple. He promised Loretta he would take her to a different temple each year for their anniversary. At that time there were 18 temples. They have since attended sessions in 58 temples across the country, the Philippines, Switzerland, Germany, Canada and Alaska.

They started out as an instant family of four, adding three more children within seven years. Rod built their home in West Point in an “L shape” for Loretta. They taught all five children the importance of hard work, education and to serve others. They lived in their home for 32 years before being bought out by the Utah Department of Transportation. They still own a half acre of their West Point property where Rod’s vegetable garden, fruit trees and man cave are located.

Rod picked their current home in Clinton, where they’ve resided the past 3 1/2 years.

Known by all for his big warm smile, his “can-do” attitude, his constant acts of service and most importantly, for his love of his family and the gospel.

Rod, an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has served in many callings including high councilman and bishop. His favorite calling was nursery leader, which he served several times.

At the time when Rod was to be released as the bishop of the West Point 14th LDS Ward, he called himself as a nursery leader moments before he was released. He served faithfully and with love for 18 months.

Many children have sat on his lap singing songs, reading books, playing with dolls and trucks. To this day, he is known as “Teacher,” by many young ones who are now adults.

The most important children who Rod cherished were his 13 grandchildren. He was either on the floor playing blocks with the little ones or outside playing Nerf War, playing a game of basketball, football or going on a bike ride with one or more of them. He loved playing chess with his grandchildren and enjoyed teaching them. He would play any type of card games and relished winning. He enjoyed a good water fight any day and would usually gang up with the grandkids against their Gramala.

Rod and Loretta hosted a grandkid sleepover once a month for the past 15 years for the grandkids to bond as cousins. He built two triple bunk beds in their current home for their grandkids.

Rod was a generous man with his time and skills. Many times he would be late home from work because he stopped to help someone with a project or teach them how to use a tool. All of his children and their spouses often called for advice on how to fix something and he would generally take his tools and go work with them.

As soon as October arrived he would get his ATV ready for snow removal to help any neighbor as long as he had fuel. No one was allowed to drive on his driveway until the snow had been removed first. He would then move on to the neighbors with either the ATV or a shovel. One Christmas celebration was put on hold until he arrived home because he was helping several people get the plowed snow off the front of their driveways so they could go visit their families.

Rod lived to be outdoors. He loved to fish, hunt, ride the ATVs, hike and bike. Riding on his 1985 Honda Goldwing with his wife would be a highlight of his day.

Rod enjoyed road trips with Loretta when they would listen to audible mystery books and have time to just talk. Their last road trip was through Texas in 2019 when they attended temple sessions at four different temples in five days.

Rod could make friends with anyone. He didn’t care what faith a person practiced, how much money they had, or their occupation. He loved everyone and tried hard to be kind.

At the time of his passing, he was the superintendent in charge of the historical interior of the Salt Lake LDS Temple remodeling project. He had postponed his retirement for four years because this was the project he always wanted to do. Rod has been employed with Jacobsen Construction for the past 15 years. Prior to that he had worked for 32 years with McCullough Engineering & Contracting.

Some of the projects Rod supervised or worked on included the renovations of the Brigham City Tabernacle, Logan Tabernacle, the St. George Tabernacle, and the Salt Lake Tabernacle. He was in charge of the building of the Vernal Temple. He supervised the building of University of Utah Nursing School, the Primary Children’s NICU, the Utah Valley Hospital expansion, and the Kearns Building.

Family, friends and coworkers are shocked and saddened to have this bright light taken them suddenly.

Rod is survived by his wife, Loretta, his children, their spouses and 13 grandchildren, Brandon and Ann Park (Ellie, Katie, Julie), Nicole and Corey Spencer (Devin, Tailey), Terra and Josh Cooper (Caleb, Corbin, Alayna), Chad and Megan Park (Benjamin, Henry, Oliver), and Jennica and Tyler Brocious (Emerly, Parker).

Also surviving are nine siblings: Marlene Poore, Ardell Park, Dale Park, Brenda Schmitz, Tammy Long, Debbie Park, Denise Larsen, Sheri Furch and Leeann Williams. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews whom he adored and they adored him, as well as cousins, aunts and uncles.

Rod’s mother passed away on March 10. He was also preceded in death by his father and one brother.

At this time a private graveside service is planned at West Point City Cemetery for immediate family only due to safety precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The family plans to hold a larger memorial service when COVID-19 social distancing guidelines are adjusted.
