To “Seed” Your Calculator

  • Input a numeric value between 5,000 and 10,000, and make sure it’s not “tidy” (in other words, don’t use exactly 5,000, but something like 5,397).
  • Press the STO> key.
  • Press MATH and use the right arrow key to scroll over to the PRB menu.
  • Press the down arrow key to highlight rand and press ENTER.
  • Press ENTER again. The calculator will display the same number you used from step 1 above, but it is now “seeded.”

Special note about seeding: You only need to seed your calculator once, and it will stay that way until you remove the batteries or clear the RAM. If you remove the batteries or clear the RAM, you will need to seed your calculator again.
