You never know the full story or what’s going on behind the scenes ⠀⠀
So many times, I hear:
- You’re so lucky
- You’re so lucky you are so successful
- Wow, must be nice doing the things you are passionate about
- You can do anything you want
- You’ve got plenty of time with yourself
I continuously hear people wishing that they could be in somebody else’s shoes. Me either! Who wouldn’t want a better life?
But life is so ironic because we are continually searching for more. We are never satisfied inside and are always looking for a much more comfortable and happier life.
People say: The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.
But I must say, the grass is not always greener on the other side.
We never know what’s going on behind closed doors or what’s happening on the inside. Whether mental or just over exhaustion because of the things out of their control. There are pros and cons to every situation.
Because the truth is, no life is ever perfect.
We would often wish:
- Kids would be better at school
- Kids are well behaving and more obedient
- The husband would initiate and help more at home
- House would be cleaner
- We have extra hands doing the household chores
- The job would be easier
- We are more financially stable
- We’ve got more time for ourselves
- More time and money for travel and leisure
For short, a stress-free life. We are always on the lookout for a much more meaningful life. But who hasn’t?
There is nothing wrong with being determined for a much better life. Did I mention several times before that being a motivational speaker and writing a book is such a dream come true of mine?
But I must tell you that my life is far from perfect. It is quite a challenging journey, and my story is still unfolding.
But this is what I’ve learned.
The grass isn’t always greener on the other side. The reality is, the grass is rarely greener on the other side, but it is always greener where you choose to water it. Take care of your own grass. And before you know it, it’ll be greener on your side.
You REALLY NEVER KNOW what’s going on behind closed doors. You don’t know the full situation.
For some, it could be that:
- The kids sleep great but refuse to eat a vegetable
- Their husband is hardworking but lacks time for his family
- The house is clean because of anxiety
- They’re a Stay-at-Home-Mom because that’s always been their dream
- They have to work extra hours because the bills are too tight.
- They appear to be happy but was struggling with depression or is ill
Frequently, I’d find myself wanting things I never had. I’d find myself miserable for the things I do not have or the kinds of stuff I wasn’t able to do.
I envy other people for they got more time for themselves. A time to relax and do whatever they can. A time to explore more places, hobbies, and interests.
I was too focused on looking for something else while forgetting the things that I already have.
I had to admit that sometimes I don’t focus on my own grass. Sometimes I would sit in my own misery and ignore the people that keep reminding me of everything I already have that I’m supposed to be grateful for.
The whole point is to focus on the grass you are standing on.
If I’m not focusing enough on my own green grass. Everything always looks so much better from afar – but it’s just a constant reminder that we never know the full story of how their grass turned out so green.
They must have worked so hard why their grass turned out greener. It is not an overnight fortune, they’ve worked hard, spent time, and have waited long for an extraordinary life.
You NEVER know the full story. And the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.
Life can never be perfect on the other side. But I’m learning to appreciate what I have and live in my moment.
You never know, and chances are we are all fighting some type of battle.
Just got to be as thankful as you can in the one you’re in!
